Harry PottAR

May 16, 2016 by psilva6

Current location-based narratives provide intended action but lack immersion. Current augmented reality applications are lacking stories with compelling story beats and payoff that provide intended action. By combining the two technologies, Harry PottAR suggests a future direction of interactive narratives. Harry PottAR is an augmented reality mobile application that brings the wizarding world of Harry Potter to the real world for the purpose of answering the following research question: How do time pressure, audio, and interacting with real and virtual objects affect a user’s motivation to follow an interactive location-based narrative? This project will inform a set of design guidelines for future storytellers to motivate users to follow an interactive location-based narrative.
